This evening seminar is designed to educate and help mental health professionals understand common and complex mental health disorders in a primary care setting.
The subject of Depression will be presented and discussed by Dr McGilchrist and will be followed by a question and answer session.

Speakers
Dr Iain McGilchrist
Dr McGilchrist is a former Medical Director of the Priory Hospital, Hayes Grove, and a former Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Director at the Bethlem Royal & Maudsley Hospital. After working at the Wessex Neurological Centre, he trained in psychiatry at the Maudsley and worked at Senior Registrar level on the National Psychosis Referral Unit and the National Eating Disorder Units at Bethlem. He has researched in neuroimaging at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. Before beginning his medical career, Dr McGilchrist studied English at Oxford, where he won various awards and has three times been elected a Fellow of All Souls, College. He has interests and experience in a broad range of psychiatric disorders, especially anxiety disorders, depression and psychosis, and has a special responsibility for addictions. He is widely published, and his book The Master and his Emissary, which relates the structure of the brain to the history of Western culture, was published in October 2009 by Yale University Press.
