Jacques Hall Education

Jacques Hall is a DCSF registered school and offers pupils a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum including National Curriculum subjects. We are successful in getting young people to re-engage with education where previously they have been failing to attend school. Young people are encouraged to achieve new skills and develop new, confident attitudes to living and learning.

A range of examinations and accreditations are on offer to suit all, including GCSEs, ASDAN awards and entry level awards. The education centre is located on site adjacent to the main house and includes tutor rooms and specialist classrooms for science, art, food technology and technology. Small teaching groups of three to four allow for a high level of support from experienced special needs teachers. Group and individual work is also undertaken.

Education is an integral part of the therapeutic process with each young person being helped to experience success. A solid experience of education is one of the best ways to move confidently into mature adulthood and we expect every young person to take part in a full school week. Teaching and management strategies encourage pupil participation in lessons.

The behaviour of students is constantly assessed within the classroom, referring back to the behaviour management system and the individual education and care plans. Each student has an individual education plan (IEP) which takes into account his or her academic ability and sets individual goals.

A structured timetable is followed and a wide variety of subjects are offered. We also work with a number of local providers to offer pupils an extended curriculum and opportunities for inclusion.
