Jacques Hall Post 16 provision
A unique residential facility for young people aged 16 to 18 who have experienced emotional deprivation and have conduct and emotional difficulties. Orchard House is situated in Weeley, Clacton on Sea close to the amenities of the local towns and colleges.
The focus is on providing a higher education in life development skills to enable troubled young people to learn and thrive as they prepare for adulthood. The main house provides living for four people in a homely environment with en-suite bedrooms, living and dining rooms, kitchen and large garden. Small self-contained bedsits are attached to the house which offer less supported living for a further two people.
Orchard House provides:
- Higher 'social' education and independent life skills
- One to two year intensive programmes for results
- Educational, social and individual development programmes
- Access to therapy programmes
- Structured independent living programmes, tailored for individual needs
- Small group living with a maximum capacity of six young people
- Preparation and access to employment through a range of strategies
- Care pathway towards independence
Pathway plans for young people take into account their particular vulnerabilities and also allow for progression within the facility as independence grows. Life skills programmes are developed to ensure that young people can care for themselves. Orchard House is particularly effective at enabling young people to engage well with further education courses and work. Those who study at local colleges are supported by staff to help them succeed in mainstream settings.
