Sheridan School Therapy and specialist services

Sheridan School offers a range of appropriate professional therapy services dependent on individual need, which is determined through a combination of the Statement of Special Educational Need and the initial assessment at school.

Psychotherapy, art therapy and music therapy sessions or programmes are fully integrated into the school day and take place in on-site specialist rooms provided by a fully trained and qualified team of therapists.

Sheridan School is able to access a wide range of additional services in recognition of the diverse complex needs of the young people in our care including:

  • Behavioural therapy
  • Child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Counselling
  • Educational psychology
  • Family therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Speech and language therapy

As part of the Priory Group, Sheridan School is uniquely placed to work with the child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) unit at the nearby Priory Hospital Chelmsford. The school is also able to request assistance from the local NHS CAMHS team for particular cases as and when necessary.

Parents and carers can also be offered individual, marital or family therapy which is conducted by a qualified psychotherapist and provided in the family home or other agreed venue.
