The Priory Hospital Chelmsford

Addiction treatment programme

The Priory Hospital Chelmsford offers an addiction treatment programme that specialises in addiction treatment for substance and behavioural dependency, such as alcohol, drugs, gambling, relationships and shopping.

The addiction treatment programme (ATP) is a specialised treatment facility designed to meet the needs of the chemically dependent as well as addictive and obsessive behaviours. Treatment is designed specifically to meet the needs of the addict; its structure and intensity engenders self-discipline and replicates the focused, obsessive nature of the addiction in a positive and constructive approach.

The task orientated, stage sequential treatment programme represents visible progress to the addict and group peers, motivating the patient to relinquish the old ideas and beliefs in favour of taking responsibility for addressing problems and maintaining sobriety.

The treatment is an introduction to sobriety; it opens the door to a process of recovery that is on-going. The programme provides a solid base on which to build a better future for ourselves and for our families.

How long is treatment / admission?

The addiction treatment programme (ATP) advocates and promotes the intensive 28-day inpatient treatment programme that includes detoxification. The programme also caters for patients who commit to a one-week detox as well as two-week admissions; this incorporates patients who have work or family commitments.
