The Priory Hospital Altrincham Accessing treatment

Referrals to a consultant psychiatrist

The majority of referrals made to a Priory hospital are through a patient’s General Practitioner. A referral to a consultant psychiatrist can be made by telephone, in writing, via email or faxed to the hospital’s enquiries and admissions coordinator, who will then pass these details on to the relevant consultant.

Referrals are also welcomed from other areas of the NHS and the independent sector, in addition to General practitioner, Consultant psychiatrists, PCT specialist commissioners, CAMHS, General psychiatry services, Drug and alcohol services, Psychotherapists, Occupational health physicians and Public sector organisations.
  • To make a referral, please contact the admissions/enquiries co-ordinator on 0161 904 5602 (direct line), fax 0161 904 0780 email altrincham@priorygroup.com or post to Admissions/enquiries Co-ordinator, The Priory Hospital Altrincham, Rappax Road, Hale, Cheshire WA15 0NX
  • To make an outpatient appointment with a specific Consultant, please telephone the main hospital reception and ask to speak to the relevant Consultant’s secretary on 0161 904 0050

Referrals to therapy services

We offer out-patient individual psychotherapy and/or a group based daycare programme.

To see an accredited therapist, referrals are accepted directly into our Therapy Services department from General Practitioners, solicitors, occupational health departments, health care professionals and other providers of care. Individual treatment packages are agreed with clients during an initial assessment appointment (evening and weekend appointments are also available).

  • To directly access treatment or to make an initial assessment appointment please telephone the therapy services administrator on 0161 904 0050 or email altrincham@priorygroup.com

Corporate/occupational health

Any company wishing to make a referral or member of staff wishing to be admitted to a Priory hospital will need to be referred by their company occupational health doctor. If a company occupational health nurse has been the patient’s point of contact they will liaise with the company doctor to arrange a referral if this is required.
