The Priory Hospital Preston Accessing treatment
Referrals to a consultant psychiatrist
The majority of referrals made to a Priory hospital are through a patient’s GP. A referral to a consultant psychiatrist can be made by telephone, in writing, via email or via fax to the hospital’s enquiries and admissions coordinator, who will then pass these details on to the relevant consultant.
Referrals are also welcomed from other areas of the NHS and the independent sector, in addition to GPs, consultant psychiatrists, PCT specialist commissioners, CAMHS, general psychiatry services, drug and alcohol services, psychotherapists, occupational health physicians, self-referrals, as well as public sector organisations.

Individual treatment packages are agreed with clients during an initial assessment appointment (evening and weekend appointments are also available).

Any company wishing to make a referral or member of staff wishing to be admitted to a Priory hospital, will need to be referred by their company occupational health doctor. If a company occupational health nurse has been the patient’s point of contact they will liaise with the company doctor to arrange a referral if this is required.
