Admission criteria

  • Acquired brain injury
    • Traumatic brain injury
    • Hypoxic brain injury
  • Medical conditions causing acquired brain injury eg
    • Central nervous system infections
    • Acute encephalitis
    • Central nervous system complications following surgery
  • Diffuse multi-focal brain injury from other causes
  • Stroke
  • Subarachnoid haemorrhage
  • Other complex neuro-disability including tracheostomy and ventilator dependent

We do not accept:

  • Patients under Section 2, 3 and 4 of the Mental Health Act 1983 for assessment and treatment and require secure facilities
  • Patients exhibiting acute psychiatric episode with florid symptoms that would impede the rehabilitation process
  • Patients with violent or aggressive behaviour that are a serious risk to themselves, other patients or staff and would require secure accommodation facilities
  • Patients who are not medically stable

Referrals

Referrals can be made by any health or social services professional. Funding may be provided by the local Primary Care Trust, Social Services, solicitors, the individual or any major private medical insurance company.
