Admission process

  • Referral papers received from local authority, social work and education departments. Referral papers are matched to the admission criteria.
  • Information relating to Troup House School and the placement is sent to local authority.
  • Referrals meeting is arranged involving the management team.
  • Staff from Troup House School will arrange to visit the child or young person in their current placement if appropriate.
  • The referral will be progressed if it is felt that Troup House School can meet the child’s individual needs.
  • Young person is admitted to Troup House School through a pre-placement meeting admission plan agreement.
  • From the point of admission the young person and their family or carer will be involved in an eight to twelve week
  • comprehensive assessment process to determine whether the school is able to meet the identified intervention required.

Admission criteria

Young people are usually referred by their local authority, social work and education departments.

  • Presenting with a range of difficulties including behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and autistic spectrum disorders
  • Young people are aged from 8 to 16 years old
  • Funding must be agreed by a local authority
