Therapeutic Support Programmes

Students have access to a range of therapies, most of which are integrated into the education and care programme. Person centred planning is the central theme for all interventions and approaches,  with tools such as life story work, life space crisis intervention and cognitive behavioural interventions being adopted. Therapies are tailored according to the young person’s individual needs with psychological provision where and when required.

  • Counselling - our qualified and highly experienced counsellor works collaboratively with all staff to provide ongoing support to our  young people
  • Outdoor education - enables young people to overcome fears and apprehensions and develop self-belief, confidence and independence
  • Hair, beauty and personal presentation - our hair and beauty treatments assist with promoting self-confidence and self-esteem, whilst also gaining skills in all aspects of personal care
  • Music and media - through a creative approach to music and media experiences are utilised in a therapeutic environment to encourage self-expression
  • Video interactive guidance - VIG is used to enhanced the interpersonal skills of our young people  through the principles of good communication and empowerment.
  • Cognitive skills programme - is aimed at addressing cognitive or thinking skills that may contribute to a young person’s offending or anti-social behaviour

  • Multi-professional support across care, health, mental well-being and education to enhance individual development and decision making in young people
  • Full and varied curriculum which provides holistic and integrated learning experiences
  • Communal living to address specific interpersonal and social problems
  • Psychological and/or counselling support
  • Specialised programmes including: cognitive skills training and anger management
  • Parental participation in assessment procedures and intervention strategies
  • Preparation and planning for the full inclusion of young people within mainstream society.
