Thornford Park Hospital Overview
Thornford Park is a 122 bed low and medium secure hospital offering high quality, individualised care, treatment and rehabilitation for men aged 18+ who are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and difficult to place in NHS facilities.
There are 71 low secure rehab beds in four wards, 23 medium secure beds in two wards for male patients, a 10 bed ward specialising in short term, acute low secure assessment and a 13 bed ward for patients who are elderly and physically frail.
The hospital incorporates rehabilitation flats with rooms for seven patients to live with greater independence prior to discharge.
We care for patients with a wide range of mental health issues, including those with personality disorder. The hospital's safe, secure and supportive environment enables patients to maximise their life opportunities and live within the lowest level of security possible.
The hospital is managed by Paul Cowans, Hospital Director. Dr Rick Driscoll is the Medical Director and Consultant Forensic and Rehabilitation Psychiatrist.
