Admissions criteria
- Male and female learners aged between 16-19 (on admission) with a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome
- Most will have a Statement of Educational Needs
- Learners often have other associated difficulties or disorders such as:
- Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Learning difficulties
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia
- Complex emotional needs
Referrals from all cultural, ethnic or religious backgrounds are welcomed.
Admissions process
Residential learners for both Farleigh Further Education College - Frome and Farleigh Further Education College - Swindon are assessed together in Frome.
- Stage 1 Initial enquiry received
- Stage 2 Application form sent out
- Stage 3 Completed application returned by the end of September of the year prior to admission
- Stage 4 Decision made to assess or not
- Stage 5 Invitation to an admissions day held weekly between October and December
- Stage 6 Placement offered by end of December
- Stage 7 Funding application submitted
In conjunction with other professionals involved in the admission days, an offer of a provisional place at Farleigh Further Education College - Frome is made subject to:
- An appropriate offer of a place at one of the partner mainstream colleges
- Obtaining funding
- Learners and parents or caregivers sign to accept Farleigh Further Education College - Frome's terms and conditions for placement
