Farleigh Further Education College Swindon Education

Farleigh Further Education College Swindon gives learners the opportunity to reach their potential and develop academic and life skills for independence and integration into the community. Learners attend one of the two local Swindon Colleges where they have the opportunity to access a variety of academic and vocational courses.

Learners are supported within mainstream settings by our own specialist learning support staff. There is a dedicated resource centre on campus which is used by our students for study during the day and evening. Programmes are in place for skills for life including numeracy, literacy and independence training. Education is continued within the residential setting with sessions in social, leisure and communication skills, as well as additional work on independent living skills.

Farleigh Further Education College Swindon provides placements for 40+ young people with a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome who want to work towards independent living in a mainstream setting.  The majority of our learners are enrolled on a mainstream placement, either at a local mainstream college or on a local work placement.  For those learners who still find managing the complexities of a mainstream setting too challenging we increasingly offer a range of in-house courses which we deliver on-site.

Outside of their education or work placement settings, all learners have access to a range of social and independence activities which help individuals develop their confidence, communication and independent skills.  Learners are expected, encouraged and supported to engage in a range of these activities as part of their placement.  In addition, learners are encouraged and supported to plan, and organise their own activities with the help and support of staff where required.
