Student News

Mark College student, ‘D’, has recently taken part in a talent search with Team GB Rowing. He had to undergo several tests for physique, strength and endurance.

D’s scores were exceptional! They compared very favourably with the test results Olympic rowing champions had at his age, which show that he has exceptional ability, and with training could be very successful in the Olympic sport of rowing. D has a special gift, which only three or four others in this sport at this age possess.

D is now looking forward to the opportunity of training with Team GB Rowing when he reaches the 6th Form. He is also an outstanding rugby player and known at Mark College, which is a residential school for students with dyslexia and language disorders, as a great sportsman.

Mark College Student Achieves World Class Status

A student from Mark College has scooped the prestigious title of World’s Number One best player of Taylor Swift’s song ‘Love Story’.

Year 10 student Ryan Maynard has managed to beat off world-wide competition to become the fastest, most accurate player of the ‘Love Story’ track for two months running using Play Station 3’s on-line version of 'Guitar Hero’.

Ryan is an exceptional guitar player and has recently showed off his skills to a rapt and appreciative school audience who marvelled at his dexterity and focus as he performed a track by Unearth - one of his beloved heavy metal bands.

Mark College is very proud of Ryan’s achievements and is looking forward to supporting his natural talent further. Ryan on the other hand is much more modest “I don't get nervous” says Ryan “I'm concentrating too hard for that!”
