North Hill House Admissions process
Pupils invited to attend for an informal visit typically have a Statement of Special Educational Need.
Our admissions procedure is in five parts:
- Copies of the educational/care files of the pupil are requested which are considered by our assessment team. We are then able to make the initial assessment on whether the school is able to meet the needs of the pupil.
- If we do not feel that we can meet the students' needs we will contact the relevant persons, indicting why we feel this to be the case. Upon receiving permission alternative assessment options are looked at within the Priory Education Services. If the documentation indicates that we are able to meet the needs we invite parents for an informal visit to the school. It is not uncommon for other professionals from the local authority to visit with the parents.
- Following this initial visit, both parents and the young person are invited to return in order to have a tour of the school and meet the staff. This is designed to exchange information, answer any additional questions from parents and to allow the pupil the opportunity to see the school and be involved in the process.
- Finally an assessment visit is arranged for the young person. This assessment period is normally 3 days and is designed to allow for a detailed review of the pupils needs and to assess whether North Hill House is suitable placed to address them.
- Once the assessment has been completed a full report is sent to the persons who requested the assessment. If a young person is then formally offered a place this will be subject to a full review at the 3 month period when parents, the local authority and any other involved persons are invited to attend the initial placement review.
