Admissions criteria and process for Talocher School
Criteria
Admission to Talocher School is dependent on a detailed assessment of individual needs and our ability to meet those needs.
- Boys and girls aged 11 to 18 with complex behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD)
- Usually they have a Statement of Special Educational Need (SEN)
- Many will be looked after children by local authorities
- Young people may also have other special needs
- Some may have other associated difficulties or disorders such as:
- Challenging behaviour
- Attention deficit disorder (ADD) or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Moderate learning difficulties
- Specific learning difficulties
Process
Pupils are referred to Talocher School by social services and/or local education authorities, sometimes in conjunction with health or youth offending teams.
The school considers referrals from any cultural, ethnic or religious background.
