Rugeley Horizon Care
Care is provided in accordance with the school's care philosophy and principles of care which emphasise the importance of privacy, dignity, rights, choice and fulfilment. These principles enable care to be provided in a manner which keeps the school committed to a person centred approach in all aspects of daily life.
Rugeley Horizon School provides a comfortable, stimulating and safe environment specifically designed for young people with an autistic spectrum disorder. It offers access to the wider community and fosters an atmosphere where young people have the benefits of socialising with others, making friends and participating in activities according to their interests and abilities.
A dedicated team of staff, who are appropriately trained and qualified, provide 24 hour support to all our young people. A specific member of staff is also allocated to act as key worker to every young person, providing individual support, advice and guidance. Good sleep patterns are promoted and waking night staff are on duty throughout the night. They are able to provide extra support and comfort for young people who may become anxious or unwell. Young people with epilepsy may have an audio monitor in their room in accordance with their individual risk assessment.
The school has a dedicated family liaison co-ordinator and there is a full support programme available for parents. Calendar events include parent training sessions, information workshops, social gatherings and performances that celebrate student achievement. All parents are invited to attend.
