Priory plans investment in Andover

Priory Group, the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist healthcare, is planning a £1.2 million investment in a dedicated care home in Andover for vulnerable adults with learning disabilities.

Priory reached an agreement to purchase the former Andover Mencap facility in South End Road, Andover and has applied for permission to re-develop the site as a specialist facility providing a homely environment for 10 vulnerable adults.

The project will enhance the environment of the site and provide two new, five-bedroomed semi-detached properties which will benefit from some shared services such as a lift, IT room and a staff office and toilet, with bedrooms and communal areas which are both spacious and homely.

The home will be managed and staffed by a caring and professional team dedicated to providing quality care and support for the residents.

The Priory Group aims to continue the tradition of care within the local community that Andover Mencap has so successfully carried out on this site.

Matthew Franzidis, chief operating officer at the Priory Group said: “This site is in a good location with community facilities to support each patient’s individual needs and lifestyle. Andover Mencap has indicated its support for the development and it has been well received by healthcare professionals in the area.

“We hope to become part of a supportive local community and will welcome any feedback or address any questions that local people may have.”

Andover Mencap Chief Executive, Simon Tyler, stated that “he was delighted at the prospect of The Priory Group developing an exciting and much needed resource for the area which will increase the opportunities and options people with a learning disability and their families and carers.”
