Bentley Court Care Home, part of the Priory Group, has been left starry-eyed after an inspection by Environmental Health awarded it the top merit of five stars.
The care home in Wolverhampton was given the accolade after its first formal food hygiene inspection since opening in September 2009. The Environmental Health Officer praised the home for its exemplary food hygiene standards. The officer from Wolverhampton Council, who visited the home, also praised the staff for their in-depth knowledge regarding food safety and preparation.
Catering staff at the care home were given positive feed-back from the inspector who congratulated them on their food policy and record keeping.
Bentley Court has beds for 70 residents and aims for the highest standards in all areas of its care facilities. The establishment is designed specifically to meet the needs of older people requiring general or specialist dementia nursing care.
Peter Gathercole from Bentley Court care home, said: “We are all extremely pleased to be given this accolade. It proves that all the hard work the staff have put into the home has paid off and I know they will continue to keep up their high standards.
“I am very proud of the fact that it is very rare for an establishment to be awarded the five star rating at its first inspection. This highlights the continual hard work carried out by all staff at the home”
Jonathan Blackman, Environmental Health Officer said: 'I was very pleased with the excellent standards being maintained at the premises. Food handlers and Management demonstrated a good knowledge of and commitment to food hygiene.'
