CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL SPECIALIST EDUCATION
The Priory's Rossendale School, a specialist education school for boys and girls aged eight to 16 years old with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD), has celebrated 20 years of operation this year.The school marked its anniversary with a day of celebration in the heart of Lancashire.Amongst the performers during the celebrations were a student choir from the school which performed the McFly song 'It's all about you' as part of their repertoire.It was an emotional occasion when past students stood and spoke of their times at the school and how it had changed and impacted on their lives, highlighting how Rossendale School recognises each child as an individual, having innate abilities, aptitudes, and talents which enable them to achieve success.Specialist speaker John Visser, PhD Associate Professor at the University of Birmingham recognised the contribution Rossendale School had made to the specialist education sector and the important role that Rossendale School staff have had in changing young people's lives.David Duncan, Principal of Rossendale School, said: "It is remarkable to think that twenty years ago Rossendale School began its life as a remote small farmhouse on the top a hill in Bury. Today Rossendale School has been awarded an 'Outstanding' school by Ofsted for several years running, a significant achievement and worthy of celebration."Rossendale School has a proud history and the students have put on display the wonderful skills and talents they have as individuals.
