Widnes Hospital Opened Up To Local Patients
A new hospital in Widnes will now be free to take patients under local NHS contracts following a change of ownership. The Widnes hospital, which offers mental health services to patients suffering from a range of conditions, was prevented from admitting patients from the North West because its previous owners were not part of the framework agreement with the North West Special Commissioning Group.
Now the brand-new state-of-the-art hospital has been bought by the renowned Priory Group, which works with the NHS all around the region.
The purpose-built hospital in Bennett’s Lane has beds for 74 patients. The future of the hospital and its staff has been secured by the acquisition of the hospital.
Matthew Franzidis, chief operating officer at the Priory Group said: “The Widnes hospital fits perfectly with our portfolio and expands our presence in the North West.
“People living with mental illness in the area will now be able to take advantage of the excellent facilities and the expertise and experience of the Priory Group.”
