The Priory Hospital in Southampton has appointed Jane Elderfield as Hospital Director.

Jane brings a wealth of experience to the role. She has made the move from the NHS, where she began her career as a staff nurse, progressing to her most recent position of Chief Operating Officer for Southern Health – the Mental Health Foundation Trust in the south region.

The Priory Hospital Southampton is an independent hospital, specialising in the management and treatment of mental health problems including addiction.

The hospital opened in 1987 and has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

For patients suffering from mild to moderate mental health issues, such as stress and anxiety, the hospital provides a range of outpatient based therapy services such as individual and group based cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

For those people requiring inpatient care for more severe psychiatric illness such as depression, psychotic illness or eating disorders, there are residential facilities for 35 patients.

Priory Southampton has a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and therapists.

Matthew Franzidis, chief operating officer at Priory Group said: “We are delighted to welcome Jane to the Priory Hospital Southampton.

“Her leadership and management skills, and experience within the mental health sector will be extremely valuable to build on the hospital’s already excellent reputation.”
