General psychiatry outcomes
Inpatients and day patients follow well defined care packages that are audited regularly to ensure that service delivery remains consistent.
The primary outcome tools used to measure clinical effectiveness in these services are HoNOS for inpatients and CORE for day and outpatients. The following chart shows industry-leading levels of completion of outcome data for inpatients and a highly consistent level of symptom recovery during admission for all patients discharged between July 2008 and June 2009. Such change is also highly clinically significant.
The CORE system was introduced during the year for day patients and compliance was monitored and fed back to sites. Compliance has risen to an average 23% of all episodes, with a target of 60% for next year, at which point regular comparative analyses will commence.
