Funding

We welcome self-funded and privately insured patients, and those funded by the NHS. Over 75% of Priory's care is publicly-funded.

Most of the children and young people within our schools and colleges are funded by their local authority, social services or the Learning and Skills Council.

Private medical insurance

All Priory hospitals (except our Secure hospitals) are recognised by the majority of private medical insurers. We suggest that potential patients contact their insurer to check that adequate cover is available before admission.

Self-pay

Patients who do not have private medical insurance and intend to self-fund will be asked to make an initial payment by credit card, cheque or cash on admission. Weekly payments will then be required on account. Details of these charges are available on request from all hospital admissions Offices. Self-funding patients are asked to sign a financial agreement to guarantee further payments.

NHS

Patients who would like to be funded by the NHS should discuss funding with their GP or consultant. An agreement to fund an NHS patient in a Priory hospital is made at the discretion of the relevant NHS funding authority.

Students

Students are referred and funded via local authorities, social services, education and health departments. Students can also be privately funded.

Local authorities

Local authorities will identify, assess and, where necessary, provide statements for children with special educational needs. Once a statement has been issued the local authority is responsible for arranging provision and funding for the child.
