Social life and leisure
Priory Care Homes recognise the value in maintaining an individual’s well being. It is very easy for one to lose contact with the social and leisure aspect of their life.
As we strive to provide centres of excellence, we believe that social and leisure aspects of life are an integral part of care. It is not a separate entity.
To ensure people live well in our services, to ensure people maintain as much dignity, value, respect and independence as possible and to ensure people have fun in their home, we have a responsibility to support people with whatever it is they wish to do during their social and leisure time.
We also understand the anxieties experienced by people moving in to a care home and believe these anxieties can be reduced through the implementation of our model.
Our ongoing programme of activities and events organised by our social and leisure organisers are designed to be stimulating for the clients and include:
- Local community involvement – our dementia services are built on the principle of community presence and participation
- Arts and crafts
- Celebrations including birthdays
- Film club
- Gentle exercise
- Monthly themed activities
- Multi-faith religious services
- Reminiscence therapy
- Wii consoles
