Signs of eating disorders
Although by no means comprehensive and, it is important to state, not necessarily indications of an eating disorder, here are a selection of signs that are common indications of disordered eating issues:
What to look out for...
- Obsession with body weight and thoughts of being overweight
- Only eating particular types of food
- Picking at food and hiding food on a plate
- Using the bathroom immediately after eating
- Avoiding meal times, and making excuses not to eat at meal times
- Rapid changes in weight, both losses and gains
- Mood swings and irritability
- Excessive exercise
Should any, or a combination, of these signs lead you to believe an eating disorder is an issue, remember the earlier help is sought, the greater the opportunity for seeing a complete recovery. Please call 0845 2 PRIORY (that's 0845 2 774679) for help.
