Secure services overview
Welcome to Priory secure services - a specialist provider of personalised short, medium and long-term secure mental health services, working in partnership with the NHS.
Our mission
Our mission is to care for patients in the least restrictive environment appropriate for their safety needs, in a manner that enhances quality of life, facilitates successful treatment and meets rehabilitation objectives.
About Priory secure services
As leading providers of specialist secure mental health services, Priory secure services work in partnership with the NHS to provide short, medium and long-term secure care and treatment that is tailormade to suit the needs of our patients.
A range of placement options are available from enhanced medium secure, through to rehabilitation flats and a step-down service; and our range of individual therapeutic programmes offer excellent quality of life and achieve outstanding clinical outcomes.
Additionally, through our Priory Grange range of hospitals, we are able to offer long-term intensive, highly flexible treatment programmes for patients with enduring mental health issues who cannot be cared for in conventional hospitals, as well as those detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) who are suitable for conditions of lower security.
Working in partnership
Collaboration is the key to our success and we have established long and successful partnerships with PCTs, Trusts and local authorities and have worked with them to develop new services to meet the changing needs of both the referrer and patient.
All Priory secure hospitals have national patient intake for detained NHS patients, including those under Ministry of Justice restrictions and non-forensic patients who require a medium or low secure environment.
All secure patients are publicly funded and we accept referrals from a wide variety of public sector organisations including high secure hospitals, prisons, courts, medium secure units (MSUs), social services and the police.
On admission each patient undergoes a physical, psychiatric, psychological, social and behavioural assessment that defines his or her clinical needs. Priory's multidisciplinary assessment package also covers the patient's history of offending behaviour, background and social factors.
We are proud of our innovative and successful approach to clinical practice, which is based on four principles - patient empowerment, patient dignity, physical healthcare provision and social interaction.
