Dementia Strategy Team
What is the dementia strategy team (DST)?
The DST was set up by Priory to create a robust and coherent dementia strategy which would deliver a consistently high quality service provision and exceed the recommendations as laid down in Key Objective 11 of the National Dementia Strategy (NDS).
The team consists of Priory staff from across the business, as well as representatives from clients and relatives at each of our care homes.
Aims and Objectives
- To develop a coherent, consistent and robust dementia strategy that will compete successfully in the care homes market place
- To develop consistency throughout the business based on the principles of True Person Centred Care
- To exceed the recommendations laid down in Key Objective 11 of the NDS
- Bi-monthly meeting for main stakeholders with contributions from others
- Full inclusion from those living in the homes
- Team working and decision making re all dementia related matters
Meet the team
Oonagh Duffy - Occupational Therapist
Oonagh Duffy qualified as an Occupational Therapist at the University of Ulster-Jordanstown in 2009, after which she completed several practice placements in hospitals and community environments in Belfast as part of her occupational therapy degree, including:
- Musgrave Park Hospital - Hands Therapy
- North and West Belfast - Domiciliary OT
- The Mater Hospital - Psychiatric inpatients Unit
- The City Hospital - Renal, Rheumatology and Pain Management
She has also worked as a part-time care assistant whilst studying in a local care home for three years. Since November 2009 she has been working as a Social and Leisure Organiser in Ben Madigan Care Home, her role there is to plan, organise and implement group and individual activities for the clients on a daily basis in the home and local community.
