Training and support

Our knowledge and experience has shown that high levels of effective support and comprehensive training for foster carers results in stability and good outcomes for the children and young people in our care. Priory Fostering Services is committed to offering the highest quality of care and we are proud of the level of service we provide.

In order to make this happen we provide the following:

Training

  • Ongoing and regular training
  • External training opportunities including NVQ and CWDC accreditation
  • Representation at all child care reviews

Support

  • Access to 24/7 out of hours service
  • Every foster carer is allocated their own Priory Fostering Services social worker who will typically visit the foster home at least twice a month
  • Monthly social work supervision
  • Foster children are allocated their own support worker who works in partnership with the carers and other professionals
  • Monthly surgeries provided by an experienced child psychologist
  • Access to family contact suite
  • Regular foster carers' support group meetings
  • Mentoring of new carers by experienced carers

Remuneration

  • Good remuneration package with generous tax allowances

  • Paid holiday allowance for foster children
  • Paid membership of the Fostering Network (The Fostering Network is the UK's leading charity for everyone with a personal or professional involvement in fostering. They provide support for foster carers and improve the lives of children in care.)
  • Paid respite care up to a maximum of 21 days per year
