Care package for Priory addiction and trauma service

The world of addiction treatment has changed out of all recognition from what it was twenty years ago.  Treatment no longer focuses solely on substance dependency; it also encompasses dependency on processes and behaviours such as gambling, sex or internet use, and on developmental issues. Staying at the forefront of addiction treatment, Priory has developed a range of care packages that address all such issues, representing a far more holistic approach to good practice and health.

Our standard 28-day programme has been extended in a modular format so that now we can offer treatment tailored to individual needs based on a menu of:

  • Short term, medically-supervised alcohol or drug detoxification
  • Inpatient rehabilitation comprising individual and group work
  • Outpatient day care programmes

Day care is delivered with decreasing intensity, from six full days of treatment during the first week to a single day in the sixth week, allowing swift, effective treatment and re-integration into society, whilst providing the required support and time for peer group reflection.

The trauma program is based on the work of Pia Mellody whose model for co-dependence recovery is world-renowned. Priory has taken this model and used it very successfully, both as a primary treatment and also a relapse prevention tool.  Participation in the dedicated trauma programme is a component of treatment for all who would benefit from such an approach either on an inpatient or day care basis.

All our treatment and recovery programmes are based on the 12 step model and abstinence, which have proved themselves over 70 years to be the most powerful tools for recovery.
