Care package for Priory eating disorders service

Priory's specialist network for eating disorders has designed the care packages delivered to eating disordered patients across Priory's acute psychiatric hospitals. These packages cover all patients' needs on their journey from illness to health, through inpatient, day care and outpatient treatment.  Together they form a framework that ensures everyone we treat receives a consistently high standard of multidisciplinary care, no matter where in the country or at what point on their journey they are admitted.

Consistency of high quality care does not mean the same care everywhere - our packages are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual.  They are also evidence-based and NICE compliant.  They are regularly evaluated and audited.

Essentially we help individuals:

  • Develop coping strategies and practical skills to manage their illness
  • Explore their motivation, underlying emotional issues and concerns
  • Establish and maintain a healthy body and relationship with food
  • Receive the support they need for individual growth, recognising their family context

We have established successful relationships with PCTs, mental health trusts and other stakeholders over a long period and increasingly our services are focused on delivering treatment for PCTs across their whole catchment areas. Partnership with the NHS is a key to our success in delivering care and treatment in collaboration with local tier 3 services.  Services we deliver for the NHS include inpatient, daycare and outpatient treatment, with the emphasis on targeted outcomes and safe passage back to primary care in as short a time frame as possible.
