Care package for Priory Secure and Specialist services
Collectively our hospitals provide a comprehensive care pathway for all our patients from medium and low secure services, through to complex care and rehabilitation provision; including independent living within hospital flats and integration back into the community. We encourage our patients to progress through our services with an aim to take more control of their lives. Many of our patients have failed in multiple placements and require a high level of support. Many are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and have complex clinical and social needs.
Each of our treatment programmes is personalised to individual patients' needs in a healing and supportive environment. Due to the comprehensive nature and breadth of our services, there is the opportunity throughout our care pathways for patients to remain within the Priory services as their needs change. However for those with deteriorating conditions we provide a variety of services that can also meet their changing needs.
We respond promptly to referrals and will arrange assessments convenient to all concerned and aim to assess all referrals in a timeframe that meets our clients' needs. In addition, we operate a rapid transfer service from prison, where we can assess and admit a prisoner into conditions of medium or low security within 48 hours of the referral.
We work collaboratively with Primary Care Trusts, National Offender Management Service and local authorities on continuing care and developing innovative services to meet changing referrer and patient requirements. We also provide placements on a spot-purchase basis.
Our treatment programmes are individually tailored to provide our patients with the most appropriate level of care and support, and in many cases include additional therapies such as aqua therapy, horticulture, community activities, group and individual therapy that complement required medical treatment.
As part of our commitment to offer a comprehensive treatment provision, our hospitals offer a wide spectrum of specialisms and treatment programmes including:
- Sex offenders treatment
- Forensic addiction
- Trauma recovery
- Management of self harm
- Violence reduction
- Arson cessation
- Socialisation programmes and community activities (including employment)
- Occupational therapy
- Rehabilitation and recovery
