One of the leading private rehabilitation centres in Europe, Life Works specialises in treatment for addictions, eating disorders, and mental health conditions such as depression.

Life Works understands that each individual has unique needs and focuses on each symptom of their illness, including:

  • Abusive relationships with alcohol or drugs
  • Unhealthy relationships around food
  • Unhealthy relationships with people, exercise, gambling or work

Treatment programme

For more than 12 years, Life Works has been helping to improve the mental wellbeing of its clients by using clinically proven and tested techniques including, amongst many other therapies, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), as well as complementary therapies such as yoga.

Life Works provides intensive specialist treatment programmes in an open and intimate environment – treating up to 20 patients at a time.

Steve Clarke, Therapy Services Manager, spoke about how Life Works is able to offer unique treatment to patients:

“Our clients benefit from being treated within our small, safe community. We are not a large psychiatric hospital treating a wide range of issues – we are specifically tailored to treat our clients’ addictions, eating disorders and mental health issues.”

As part of the treatment programme at Life Works a specific Family Programme is offered to the loved ones of clients who have stayed for 28 days or more.

“We value the role of family and friends as an integral part of the treatment process and provide support and relief for both our clients and those closest to them,” Steve explained.

Who is suitable for treatment at Life Works?

  • Men and women aged 18 years and over
  • Private patients only
  • People suffering from: substance dependency, process addictions (co-dependency, love addiction, work addiction, burnout and stress), gambling addiction, eating disorders (extended primary treatment), sex addiction, and other mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety

An environment supporting recovery

Treatment at Life Works takes place in a beautiful Georgian Manor, set in tranquil grounds nestled in the Surrey hills.

“Clients have told us that Life Works is a welcoming, safe, and nurturing environment for them to recover,” Steve Clarke explained.

The site includes:

  • 20 beds which are a mixture of single occupancy and shared (same sex) rooms
  • Bedrooms with en-suite facilities
  • A kitchen/restaurant, with chefs who prepare and cook healthy meals based on nutritional diet plans
  • A small gym offering 20 minute sessions with a personal instructor, 3 times per week, allowing clients to reclaim a healthy relationship with exercise

Steve continued, “Residential treatment can seem like a daunting prospect but it truly can have an amazing impact on an individual’s life. It provides the time, care and attention that is needed to fully address people’s emotional and physical issues.

“We continually strive to provide the very best behavioural health treatment available in the UK and we are extremely proud of our outcomes. This is verified by client feedback, with 95% of those who have used our services saying they would recommend Life Works to a friend.”

Lifelong care

The environment at Life Works helps clients to achieve long-term, life-changing results – it is not a short-term sanctuary.

As well as helping clients reclaim their lives as they first begin their recovery journey, Life Works aims to continue to support them as they maintain recovery, and enjoy healthy and fulfilled lives through the Aftercare Programme.

The Aftercare Programme is offered to all Life Works patients, via sister sites (or through alternative options) throughout the country and is an integral step in the ongoing recovery and relapse prevention process.
