GP and Health Professional - free seminar / events programme

As part of The Priory Group’s ongoing pledge to further education we are pleased to announce our upcoming free seminars for General Practitioners and Health Professionals.

Our  seminars have proved extremely popular in the past and have helped professionals gain access to specialist teaching as well as providing an opportunity to liaise with consultants regarding relevant issues. Seminars are offered at our hospital sites but can also be arranged at external venues. Please contact us and we will try to accommodate any requirements you may have.

Our seminars aim to provide education and develop understanding around mental health concerns facing primary care practitioners. Only recently, an article by Dr Hamilton McBrien commented on the concerns raised by a lack of mental health teaching.

“Training in mental health for undergraduate medical students has noticeably been reduced within some Universities’ curriculums, with an emphasis on physical health. The amount that medical students have to learn is ever increasing, but it is clearly an oversight to identify mental health training and experience as an area to reduce. It is extremely rare for medical students to have any significant experience or opportunities in adolescent mental health.”

We often provide seminars to coincide with national awareness campaigns On the 5th of March, to coincide with National Sleep Awareness Week, Dr Natasha Bijlani from the Priory Hospital Roehampton will be presenting “Insomnia and Hypnotic Use in General Practice”.

All education at Priory Group provides CPD points which are presented electronically after the teaching seminar. We also provide further teaching seminars upon request which can be held at your surgery*.

Visit Priory Events for further information about the events and to book your place.
