Priory Group sponsors Walk on Wales in support of 'Combat Stress'

As an organisation, the Priory Group is dedicated to helping people improve their mental health and well-being. We are delighted to be sponsoring and extremely proud to be taking part in the Walk on Wales event later this year.

This venture is a sponsored walk along the Welsh coast path, starting on 25 August and culminating in a high-profile return to Cardiff on 2 November. The walk will raise money for the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal, and for Combat Stress, which does so much in caring for the mental health needs of some of our Service Veterans.

Priory Group will be sponsoring the 11th and final leg of this event, from Porthcawl to Cardiff Bay. Four teams will participate in our leg, with each team walking for a day.

  • 30 and 31 October. Christine Groves (Healthcare Regional Manager in Wales) and Andrea Melia (Home Manager, Brynawel) will lead their respective teams on a 24 mile course, with each team completing a 12 mile walk. The teams will comprise of staff drawn from a number of our healthcare sites in Wales.  The route will stretch from Porthcawl to Aberthaw.
  • 1 November. Chief Executive Tom Riall and a group formed from the Executive Management Team will walk the 3rd of our stages. The route will take them from Aberthaw to Swanbridge, a distance of 17 miles
  • 2 November. Trevor Torrington will lead a group from the Healthcare Division’s Senior Management Team (including Steve Conway, the Operations Director for healthcare sites in Wales) on the final day’s walk into Cardiff Bay. This will be the high-profile culmination of the event.

Further details will be given nearer to the event but in the meantime you can visit the Walk on Wales webpage at
