An inspection by the Care Quality Commission has given The Priory Hospital Roehampton the highest quality rating, meaning the hospital is meeting all the essential standards inspected.
Following a recent visit, the hospital in South West London, which specialises in the management and treatment of mental health problems including addictions and eating disorders, met all the required standards including:
* Respecting and involving people who use services
* Care and welfare of people who use services
* Management of medicines
* Supporting workers
* Assessing and monitoring the quality of service provision
The report noted that patients “spoke positively about the support they received. …. People told us that they felt staff were skilled and caring.”
Staff were praised for their quality of care. The report said: “The staff spoke with people in a caring manner and were aware of people’s individual needs.
“People we spoke with told us they were treated with respect and that staff ensured their dignity was maintained.”
The inspector highlighted the fact that on the hospital’s West Wing, which accommodates people receiving treatment for additions and adults with eating disorders, there was a family support group, which meant people and their families were involved in the care and treatment that they received.
Speaking to the inspector, one service user on West Wing said they had a ‘very positive stay’ while another said staff were ‘really caring’.
On the adolescent eating disorders unit, the multi-disciplinary team demonstrated a “good understanding and awareness of the best practice guidelines and research evidence, which informed their work, including National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance and Management of Really Sick Patients with Anorexia Nervosa (Marsipan) guidance.”
Trevor Torrington, Managing Director of Priory Group’s Healthcare division, said: “Providing the highest quality of care is our top priority. This is a very positive inspection report and is testament to the incredible dedication and expertise of our leading staff at Priory Hospital Roehampton.”
