Priory Group to open new Rehabilitation Service in Dewsbury

The Priory Hospital Dewsbury will offer 32 beds for adults from the age of 18 with a primary diagnosis of mental illness requiring intensive, active open rehabilitation. Patients can be admitted either on an informal basis or formally under the Mental Health Act.

All of the accommodation will offer single bedrooms with all having en-suite facilities and personal showers. Large spacious communal areas will be available and there will be facilities within each service for psychological and occupational therapy, social and recreational activities. There will be great emphasis on providing homely and welcoming outside space for patients and visitors as well as access to the local community and its resources

Matthew Franzidis, chief operating officer at Priory Group said: "Over many years, Priory has developed a range of specialist rehabilitation services that provide a person centred approach that addresses the individual's needs at the differing points in their journey to recovery."

This new service in Dewsbury will predominantly provide a step down service from low secure services and step up from slow stream rehabilitation.

Priory has developed a range of specialist rehabilitation services that address the varying needs of an individual patient at the differing points in their journey to recovery. By having a range of specific rehabilitation services within the company, the service has the ability to move patients more efficiently between niche units or other Priory services.

The Group provides care and patient care pathways in association with local NHS services across the UK. It aims to provide, in partnership with the NHS, high quality, value for money, responsive services.

Matthew Franzidis continued:

"The core function of Priory open rehabilitation services is to provide comprehensive services for individuals suffering with enduring and moderate to severe mental health problems. We provide an innovative and personal approach for patients and their families in a safe and structured environment and work in partnership with professional colleagues to offer the highest standard of treatment and care for our patients."

The service is committed to a whole person approach and is supported by an effective multi disciplinary team experienced in rehabilitation and recovery and caring for patients with complex needs.
