About

I have over 20 years of experience working therapeutically in the private and public sectors. When deciding to work together, I will commit to doing my utmost to help you achieve your goals. Working collaboratively, we will identify the source of current difficulties – and using eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) and your own capacity to heal, process unhelpful and damaging beliefs, leading to an unhindered present and a positive view of the future.

My time is split between working for the Priory Wellbeing Centre in Oxford and in private practice locally. I use EMDR almost exclusively to work with single incident and developmental trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with children, adolescents and adults. EMDR is recognised in National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines as the treatment of choice for trauma and PTSD. I find it to be highly effective.

Position at Priory

I have worked for Priory on and off since 2001, in various therapeutic roles, working one-to-one and running therapeutic and educational groups at Priory Hospital North London, before coming to Priory Wellbeing Centre Oxford. I have been employed as a therapist, senior therapist, deputy manager, and as a sessional therapist currently.

Training

As well as a degree in Psychology and Counselling, I have diplomas in treating Addiction (my original interest) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Parts 1, 2, and 3 and a Supervision Diploma. I am also trained to carry out ADHD (ACE+) and Autism (ADOS 2) assessments. I am also a member of the MBACP.

Research Interests

I am interested in the ‘nature of recovery’ and what this means to our mental health, and researched the subject (seriously - probably 30 years ago) and it is an ongoing interest.
