"EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (Trauma Therapy)"
Presented by Dr Mark Collins, Consultant Psychiatrist, the Priory Hospital Roehampton
EMDR is a well known treatment method that was coined and used first by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980's.
Since then a lot of research has been conducted showing how it helps in treating psychological trauma arising from a wide range of issues such as childhood abuse and/or neglect, accidents (many different types) or assaults.
EMDR is also found to be used more recently to help people with anxiety; beneficial to not just adults but children as well.
In this seminar, Dr Mark Collins will be discussing it further, along with the benefits of the treatment alongside trauma.
Dr Mark Collins is the lead consultant for the addiction treatment programme at the Priory Hospital Roehampton. His specialisms include addictions, anxiety, bereavement, bi-polar disorder, depression, PTSD and acute mental health.
