Presented by, Deon Van Zyl, Clinical Psychologist, hypnosis has been used to treat mental distress since the 18th century and is the first Western conception of a psychotherapy or ‘talking cure’. Despite the development and proliferation of psychotherapeutic treatments, hypnosis continues to be used effectively in a variety of psychological and medical conditions, using the human capacity for experiencing trance. This talk will look at how hypnosis can be used as an adjunct to psychotherapeutic treatments such as CBT. Issues such as suitability for treatment will also be considered.
The event will open with a light buffet supper followed by an educational presentation by a Consultant Psychiatrist or therapist. There will also be an opportunity for questions and case discussions. Please note there is no charge for these events. Spaces are limited so please book early to guarantee your place. A certificate of attendance will be given to add to your CPD portfolio.
