Managing patients with eating disorders can often be challenging, particularly within the time constraints of a busy GP practice. Dr Sarah Cassar will present a brief overview of the aetiology and complex psychopathology of eating disorders, dispelling some common myths about these illnesses. She will then use case scenarios to improve confidence in assessing and managing physical problems and risk in patients with low body weight and chaotic eating and purging behaviours.
Lastly she will discuss some basic strategies and self help resources to help patients get back on track with regular eating and reduce harmful behaviours.
The seminar is for GPs and Health Professionals only, any members of the public wishing to attend can still receive a copy of the talks and further information upon request.
