The North Hill House School's Second Autism Conference will take place on Friday 27th May 2016.
The conference is designed to help develop attendees' existing knowledge of autism and to explore strategies to support learners with autism.
Meet the presenters
Ros Blackburn – Logically Illogical: Information and insight into autism
Ros is an adult with autism. She was diagnosed at age 18 months and now, in spite of severe limitations imposed by her condition, lectures nationally and internationally.
Her talk ‘Logically Illogical’ will give information and insight into autism and will show Ros’ great courage and strong sense of humour in facing her fears and tackling life’s challenges. During her talk, Ros will draw on her own experience of living with severe autism and will bring a perspective that is unique. Ros tells it ‘as it is’ and does not disguise the fears and limitations that are part of her daily life.
Sheila Barton - Living with Jonathan: Lessons in love, life and autism
Sheila is a local writer, having lived in Bath for the past 35 years, and has worked as a teacher and lecturer as well as a senior manager in various national charities. She has been on the executive council of the National Autistic Society and is an experienced public speaker.
Sheila’s recently published book, ‘Living with Jonathan: lessons in love, life and autism’ details how, having a son with autism and severe learning difficulties, she has had to learn how to live a different kind of life and adapt as a mother.
Copies of Sheila’s book will be available to purchase on the day of the conference.
