The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is a 45-bed acute psychiatric hospital offering a wide range of inpatient, outpatient, day patient and therapy services. We are committed to providing patient-centred care. Treatment plans are tailored to each patient's specific needs by our consultant-led, highly qualified multidisciplinary clinical teams. The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove is a place of serenity where our patients can take time out to rest and heal in a fully supported therapeutic environment, which promotes individual care and positive outcomes.
Wheelchair access and parking are provided for patients with disabilities and the hospital has a room on site which has been designed to accommodate patients with disabilities or special needs.
The hospital's consultant-led clinical teams treat a wide range of mental health issues and addictions of varying severity, including depression, anxiety, stress and phobias.
We also have an acute psychiatric service which is provided on an inpatient basis offering residential nursing care and intensive therapy for patients aged over 18. Accommodation is provided on the Lower Court Ward, which offers patients a calm, restful environment.
The addiction treatment programme can be accessed on a residential or outpatient basis depending upon the patient's circumstances.
The programmes are based on the 12-step abstinence model and provide treatment for a wide range of behavioural and substance dependencies including alcohol, drugs, gambling, shopping, sex, food, computer use, exercise etc. On successful completion of the 28 day programme, patients are offered continuous support for the following year. Programmes are also available to treat the more complex and increasingly common conditions such as poly-addictions or dual diagnosis.
Addiction treatment programme includes:
The Chrysalis Centre is a specialist eating disorder unit dedicated to treating adolescent patients aged 13 to 18 in a secure eight-bed inpatient environment which incorporates en-suite bedrooms, kitchen and dining rooms, a school room with education support and a family therapy room.
This service is for those who are suffering from an eating disorder and require quick access to our inpatient and day care services. We treat people who are in the acute phase of an eating disorder, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and morbid obesity.
The Cedar Therapy Centre provides counselling and several therapeutic interventions on a one-to-one or group basis. Patients may attend for a full day, half day or sessional basis.
Outpatient services are available from 8.00 am to 9.00 pm Monday to Friday and 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Saturday, allowing patients to see their psychiatrist or therapist at a convenient time.
Every patient referred to the service is offered an assessment by a professional who will arrange and oversee their therapy programme. Progress is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis.
Therapy is appropriate for people suffering from:
Specialist interventions:
We offer a unique service for patients with medically unexplained symptoms, sometimes known as psychosomatic disorders. Symptons include atypical abdominal pain, non-cardiac chest pain, headaches and facial pain, muscular pain, lower back pain, pelvic pain, chronic fatigue (ME), non-ulcerous dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, palpitations, dizziness, tinnitus, dysphonia, chronic viral infections, and non-allergy based food intolerances. Treatment is provided over a two-week inpatient stay that incorporates a specific individualised treatment programme followed by an eight to ten week day care programme involving two-half days per week.
The majority of referrals made to a Priory hospital are through a patient's GP. A referral can be made by telephone, in writing, via email or via fax to the hospital's admission department, who will then pass these details on to the relevant consultant.
To make an outpatient appointment with a specific consultant, please telephone 020 8462 7722 and ask to speak to the consultant's secretary.
Self-referrals for the addiction treatment programme are welcome, please telephone 020 8315 8812.
For all inpatient admissions please telephone the admissions office on 020 8462 7722.
For therapy services please telephone 020 8315 8837.
Any company wishing to make a referral, or member of staff wising to be admitted to a Priory hospital, will need to be referred by their company occupational health doctor. Where an occupational health nurse has been the employees point of contact they should liaise with the company doctor to arrange a referral, if this is required.
All Priory hospitals are recognised by all major private medical insurers, such as BUPA, PPP and others. It is advised that patients check their individual level of cover (and/or exclusions) with their insurers.
Patients who wish to self-fund will be asked to make an initial set payment on admission either by credit card, bankers draft or cash. Details of the charge are available on request from the admissions department. A self-funding patient will also be asked to sign a financial agreement to guarantee further payments.
Patients wishing to be funded by the NHS need to discuss funding matters with their own GP or consultant. The GP or consultant will then apply for funding from the local Primary Care Trust. An agreement to fund a NHS patient in a Priory hospital is made purely at the discretion of the Primary Care Trust.
You can be assured that the treatment patients receive will be of the highest standard, as we are continually monitored by the independent regulator the Care Quality Commission and are benchmarked against the National Service Framework.

We also strive to ensure the effectiveness and success of our treatment by meeting exacting, externally validated standards and our results compare favourably with the published benchmarks.
The environment we create for patients is as important as the treatment, itself. To this end, each patient has the privacy of is or her own comfortable bedroom, with television, telephone, and en-suite facilities.
Patients are encouraged to have their meals in the main dining room, which offers excellent choice of dishes. Special dietary requirements can also be catered for.
Visitors are welcome but please check with the nursing staff before visiting as occasionally patients may not feel well enough to receive visitors. Visiting times are largely unrestricted although we request that they leave the hospital by 10.00 pm. It is obviously best to avoid times which may interfere with treatment and the programme of activities.
For details of our patient admission information, please email hayesgrove@priorygroup.com.
