255 Lichfield Road is a modern, purpose-built mental health hospital that is specifically designed to support both male and female service users on their recovery journey.

The flexible accommodation at 255 Lichfield Road consists of two four-bedded intensive support apartments and 20 self-contained bungalows. It also provides safe and private grounds, therapy and treatment areas, family visiting room, communal bistro, nature reserve and kitchen. The service also has a dedicated occupational therapy facility to promote independent living skills.

Fees and Funding

Referrals & Admissions

We accept referrals from medium and low secure forensic services, acute wards, out-of-area services, rehabilitation services or from the community. Patients who will benefit from the service at 255 Lichfield Road:

  • Men and women aged 18 years and over
  • Have a primary mental health diagnosis
  • Informal or detained under the Mental Health Act (1983)
  • Severe complex and enduring mental health needs which might include treatment-resistant conditions
  • May have challenging behaviour, substance misuse and learning disabilities
  • May be difficult to engage/motivate
  • May have a history of disengagement and non-adherence with traditional services

We believe that the environment in which an individual is treated, is just as important as the treatment itself so we provide:

  • Two four-bedded enhanced recovery and rehabilitation units for people who may be sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983) who require a structured environment with intensive support to progress through their recovery pathway
  • 20 self-contained apartments that enable residents to live independently, whilst having the safety of a therapeutic structure if needed
  • Each apartment has its own front door, a lounge and kitchenette, bedroom and a bathroom
  • 24-hour support as required
  • Dedicated occupational therapy facility to promote independent living skills
  • Therapy and treatment areas, safe and private grounds and a family visiting room
  • Communal bistro and kitchen
  • Access to local nature reserve
