Mayfield House

Mayfield House is a 6 bedded community home in Birmingham for women recovering from severe and enduring mental illness.

We want the best for people in our care and we place great importance on individuals regaining skills and develop positive risk taking in order to move into education and employment.

We look at what can be achieved for each person, their abilities, interests and needs. We work within a positive environment to encourage confidence, bring structure, inclusion and opportunity in their lives.

Our approach

We focus on recovery models and social inclusion, supporting optimum level of functioning by providing individualised care and treatment. There is a full multidisciplinary team working with individuals to facilitate a more independent life in the community through the use of individualised therapies and the use of community resources.

Individuals are encouraged and supported to make informed choices on their care and treatment and to be involved in all aspects of their care such as care planning, social inclusion, activities within the unit and within the community and encourage personal hobbies and interests. People will be supported to achieve their goals, including building links with local community services.

Referrals & Admissions

The following criteria details who will benefit from active rehabilitation at Mayfield House:

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Women may be detained under the Mental Health Act 1983 (amended in 2007) or be admitted informally
  • Have a primary diagnosis of a mental disorder (including Personality Disorder)
