Priory Hospital High Wycombe is a detached, purpose-built learning disabilities unit, offering comprehensive Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in a forensic low secure setting for adolescents with learning disability or Autism in a safe and secure environment.

Set within its own private grounds in a quiet, residential area, High Wycombe is a 12-bedded facility that delivers expert, multidisciplinary treatment for young people. All services are delivered in partnership with the NHS and structured cost frameworks are provided for commissioners and referring healthcare professionals.

Dedicated, multidisciplinary CAMHS LD and Autism support at High Wycombe

Our comprehensive CAMHS LD offering at High Wycombe serves as an expansion of the services that we provide at Ellingham Hospital, and is suitable for:

  • Male and female patients aged between 13 and 17 years
  • Those who have diagnoses of learning disabilities or Autism and a concurrent mental illness requiring detention in a low secure setting.

The CAMHS LD offering at High Wycombe aims to provide the young people in our care with:

  • Expert, individualised care in a safe, secure and highly supportive setting
  • The ability for patients to transition between services as appropriate
  • Clear, effective treatment pathways
  • A Care Programme Approach (CPA) that fully involves the patient and their families/carers
  • Strong links with educational and community agencies, enabling patients to maximise their life opportunities
  • Outcome-driven and evidence-based interventions and care plans, flexible to individuals’ needs

Referrals & Admissions

Referrals and admissions

We accept referrals via NHS England referral pathways from a wide variety of public sector organisations throughout the UK, including:

  • Psychiatric hospitals
  • Medium secure units (MSUs)
  • Strategic health authority (SHA) forensic lead commissioners
  • NHS Mental Health Trusts

All referral will be considered and feedback offered. We may also consider an assessment by our MDT staff to consider the referral further when appropriate. All admissions will be planned and we do not offer urgent out of hours service.
