The Manor Clinic

The Manor Clinic believes that anyone struggling with addictive behaviours deserve the best possible support to make a strong and lasting recovery. We are a private treatment centre in Southampton that specialises in addictions such as alcohol, drugs, gambling and prescription drugs.

We also treat other mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, which you may be experiencing due to your addictive behaviours.

Our clinic’s main building is an elegant Georgian mansion which provides a charming, homely and personable environment for receiving expert mental health treatment. Our close-knit, family feel allows for a flexible and informal atmosphere where your health and wellbeing are our priority.

Bespoke Alcohol Addiction Treatment Programmes

Our bespoke treatment programmes are led by experienced and caring team members who will not only treat your addiction, but help you to understand underlying causes of your condition. We aim to give you the strength to accept and then overcome those triggering issues. Our addiction treatment service involves:

  • Medically managed detox
  • Medication management
  • Group therapy
  • Individual therapy
  • Family support
  • Wellbeing activities such as yoga or mindfulness
  • Free ongoing aftercare support, following completion of treatment

Individuals can attend the addiction programme for 7, 14 or 28 days and will be supported by experienced professionals including nurses, therapists, consultant psychiatrists, addiction counsellors and a family liaison team.

All therapists and support staff are fully trained in their specialist treatment sectors, with nursing care provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our full programme

Our full 28 day programme incorporates medically assisted detoxification with a variety of therapeutic activities. Individual therapy includes one-to-one sessions with an experienced therapist who may use approaches such as mood management, mindfulness or Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to support you on your road to recovery.

Group therapy is a fundamental element of treatment in the 28-day programme. Led by qualified addiction therapists, group sessions are conducted every day and allow individuals to share their insights, learn from the experiences of others, and practice effective communication and other skills that will support their continued recovery.

In addition to the traditional therapies described above, individuals in treatment at The Manor Clinic also have the opportunity to engage in a variety of additional activities. For example, yoga classes are held twice each week and 12-step fellowship meetings are conducted three times each week. We also provide a Family Support Programme which is an opportunity for loved ones to participate in fortnightly family therapy sessions with our Family Liaison Team. Further information can be found below.

Family Support Programme

We understand that entering into treatment can be overwhelming for patients, family and friends so we ensure support is offered to everyone involved, for a successful recovery.

In a safe, non-judgemental environment, our Family Liaison Team offers support and information to help family, friends and colleagues understand addiction, know how to set and maintain healthy boundaries and develop more constructive ways to communicate.

Among the features of our family support programme is the opportunity to participate in fortnightly family therapy sessions. Led by an experienced member of our Family Liaison Team, family therapy sessions are excellent opportunities for the person in treatment and their family member to address the ways that addiction has impacted them as individuals and as a family.

Free aftercare for life

Each person who completes the 28-day programme is welcome to continue attending aftercare group sessions at no additional charge, and may also contact us via telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for support and encouragement. Prior to their departure from our 28-day programme, all individuals will also receive a thorough aftercare plan that will identify referrals and other resources that will support their successful recovery.

The Manor Clinic also hosts an annual Summer BBQ and a Christmas get together for patients who have participated in the full 28-day treatment programme, allowing them to catch up with each other and share all that is happening in their lives.

The addiction support programme available through The Manor Clinic is life changing. As you realise you are ready to ask for help, please contact our admissions team. Our Admissions Counsellors offer confidential, free consultations to ensure we offer the right service for you.

Our detox programme

During this 7-day programme patients are provided with the opportunity to withdraw safely from substances. Medically-assisted detox at The Manor Clinic allows patients to cleanse their bodies of harmful substances under the attentive care of our experienced medical team, and in turn, our medical team can monitor each patient’s progress. They can also administer medications as necessary to alleviate uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms.

Referrals & Admissions

When a potential patient contacts our centre enquiring about our services, they will initially speak with a member of our dedicated nursing staff. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, these staff members can inform those interested in our treatment about the methods we use and how we are able to help our patients.

Additionally, potential patients can provide our staff with information about their treatment needs so that we can determine if our services will be effective in helping them achieve sobriety.

In order to partake in The Manor Clinic treatment experience, patients have to meet certain criteria for admission. During a potential patient’s initial phone call, a member of our nursing staff can determine if the individual meets the following criteria:

  • Must be age 18 or older
  • Must be mentally and physically able to participate in the programme
  • Must have an addiction to a substance or substances, including alcohol, prescription medications, and/or illicit drugs
  • Can have a co-occuring mental health condition including anxiety, depression or post-traumatic stress disorder

If a potential patient meets our admission criteria, they will then complete an assessment with our staff. During an assessment, the following will occur:

  • Our staff will enquire about the patient’s full substance misuse, medical, and psychological history
  • The patient will complete a drug screen and breathalyser, and they will provide a blood sample
  • Based on the information gathered during the assessment, our staff can determine which of our programming options will be best suited to meet the individual’s needs. Once this determination is made, the patient can then be admitted to our centre

At The Manor Clinic, we are happy to speak with anyone interested in our services. We can answer any questions that you or your loved one may have, and we can begin the process of admission over the phone.

Co-occuring mental health treatment

For many, certain mental health concerns exist alongside an addiction to substances and can make abstaining from alcohol and drugs quite difficult. It is because of this that The Manor Clinic is pleased to offer not just exemplary addiction treatment but also expert care for co-occurring mental health conditions as well.

Among the various types of mental illnesses that we are able to treat, the following are but a few that our patients can receive treatment for:

  • Anxiety disorders
  • Bipolar disorders
  • Depressive disorders
  • Gambling disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

At The Manor Clinic, we are proud to offer patients the all-encompassing care they need to rebuild and rejuvenate their lives and give them the chance to leave their misuse of substances in the past once and for all.
