The centre is close to Canterbury's main train stations and car parking is also available close by.
The Priory Wellbeing Centre Canterbury offers proven treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions. We provide support to young people, adults, older people, couples and families. Whatever challenges you are facing, we offer practical, effective help to get you or your loved ones back on track.
“There is significant – and growing – unmet demand for mental health services in Canterbury due to the fast paced and high pressure environment, and we can offer consistent, high-quality treatment.” Nikki Brice, Centre Manager
Treatments tailored to your needs
We offer a range of accessibly-priced outpatient support to give you the help and support you need. We also have close links with The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove, ensuring that we can provide seamless access to more specialist or intensive services if required.
Some of the common areas we can help with include:
“I am very happy with Priory which has helped us as a family and it has been excellent”
Group therapy options
We are pleased to announce that the Canterbury Wellbeing Centre now includes a new group therapy option for the Addiction Treatment Programme we offer. This will complement existing individual and family therapies. The groups will be facilitated by specialist and experienced therapists and will be offered in conjunction with other forms of help provided by Priory such as inpatient treatment, outpatient detoxification, specialist prescribing, psychiatric assessment and individual treatments – including help for those affected by addictions of other family members and friends.
Autism care and support
We also treat Autism and provide expert care for those on the Autistic Spectrum. We have a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, a Speech and Language Therapist, Family Therapists and Occupational Therapists, all of whom have many years’ experience and expertise in the field of autistic spectrum conditions (ASC).
Our Consultant Psychiatrists are able to take a background history from our patients, and/or their parent(s)/family and following this, our psychologists/psychiatrists will complete an ADI-R or 3di assessment.
Our Psychologists will also carry out the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) assessment which is a semi-structured assessment of communication, social interaction, and play for individuals suspected of having autism or other pervasive developmental disorders.
Following diagnosis most families find it helpful to have approximately four sessions of family therapy to learn in detail how autism affects their child. Feedback from these sessions is very positive and it helps both the young person and family members really understand how they will help the child manage their autism at home. Family therapy sessions would be an additional post diagnosis charge.
Individual psychology or Occupational Therapy
Depending on your child’s needs, they may benefit from individual psychology input, for anxiety for example or occupational therapy input to consider sensory needs post diagnosis. These two interventions would be an additional charge post assessment.
