Treatments tailored to your needs

Eating Disorder Treatment Clinic in Cheshire

The Priory Hospital Altrincham provides an eating disorders day care service for young people aged 11-18 in need of treatment. All patients are under the care of a Consultant Psychiatrist and have a named nurse who co-ordinates the individualised care. The provision includes additional therapy and dietetic in-puts and is facilitated outside of school hours. Young people may access treatment through private funding or local NHS Commissioning. Those accessing day care must have a BMI of 15 and above. (Special considerations are taken with regard to our younger patients.)

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient service

The Priory Hospital Altrincham also provides the Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Programme (AIOP). This Day Care based service provides support and treatment for males and females aged 12 – 18 who suffer with a diagnosed or undiagnosed Eating Disorder.

The Day Care service works with young people by adopting a structured and holistic approach, directly from the community, following referral. It also provides step down support and treatment, where clinically indicated for young people stepping down from their inpatient stay on the Rivendell Adolescent Unit. The Day Care service provides a very positive, motivating and enthusiastic environment in which young people are supported towards recovery from their eating difficulties. Attendance on the Day Care programme can vary from 1 – 2 days / evenings per week. In addition to this, outreach home support is also available where required weekly, to support the young person and their family within the home environment.

Day care attendance comprises of:

  • Physical / weight monitoring and review
  • Dietetic review
  • Nutritional Review
  • Supported meals and snacks
  • Key worker review / Risk Assessment
  • Therapeutic groups
  • Individual and multi family support
  • Weekly ward round and 6 weekly Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews
