Treatments tailored to your needs

The Priory Hospital Southampton

Priory Hospital Southampton is one of the UK's leading centres for the treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, stress and eating disorders. The hospital also provides a highly specialised inpatient service for children and adolescents.

Set within beautiful landscaped gardens, Priory Hospital Southampton’s tranquil environment offers therapeutic and recovery-focused residential treatment, as well as flexible day care and outpatient services. Our expert team consists of world renowned specialists in the field of mental health, eating disorders and child and adolescent mental health, and we ensure that our high quality treatment programmes are tailored according to the individual needs of each and every one of our patients, ensuring the best possible outcomes.

Mental health services are provided for those who wish to self-pay, access treatment via private medical insurance, or who are referred to us through the NHS.

Priory Hospital Southampton consists of three specialist wards:

Sandpiper - General Psychiatry

Our dedicated general psychiatry offering enables us to provide world class depression, anxiety, stress, schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment, amongst others. This service is available to male and female patients over the age of 18, and is led by an expert multidisciplinary team.

We are able to provide:

  • Personalised treatment programmes, enabling excellent outcomes

  • Specialised therapy programmes

  • Flexible funding options and corporate arrangements - we are an accredited and approved provider for all of the UK’s leading private medical insurers

Kingfisher - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Our child and adolescent mental health offering is available to young people aged between 12 and 18 years. This ward provides a friendly and comfortable environment that exudes a sense of community for all of our patients.

At Southampton, we understand that it can be particularly daunting for a young person to seek help for their mental health difficulties, which is why we offer a free pre-admission assessment, helping our patients to feel as relaxed as possible. This is coordinated in conjunction with the young person, their family/carers, external referring bodies and healthcare professionals, in order to facilitate a seamless transition into world class care.

Our CAMHS unit, led by an expert team, is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Quality Network for Inpatient CAMHS (QNIC).

Skylark - Adult eating disorder treatment

Our eating disorders unit provides a safe, contained and purpose-designed space for those over the age of 18, who are suffering from a variety of eating disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (BED) and eating disorders not otherwise specified (EDNOS).

Our specialist and compassionate team are able to employ a wide variety of treatment methods as a means of tackling the physical, psychological, behavioural and social aspects of eating disorders, promoting long-lasting recovery.

Southampton’s expert dietitian takes an active role in our eating disorder treatment offering, preparing bespoke meals for each of our patients that adhere to their specific dietary requirements, enabling them to feel as comfortable as possible.
